Volunteers cleaning up a stretch of river found everything from lorry tyres to a sofa.
More than 50 volunteers enjoyed the sunshine as they cleaned up a stretch of the Wandle going through Watermeads nature reserve, Poulter Park and Bennett's Hole nature reserve near the Sutton/Merton border on Sunday, March 9.
Volunteers carry away the sofa found on the bank
The team, featuring volunteers from the National Trust, the Environment Agency, Living Wandle Partnership, Sutton Council and more cleared a huge amount of rubbish from the river and its banks including all the usual items like shopping trolleys and litter as well as a settee - which came in handy when the team enjoyed a well-earned cup of tea.
