A respected doctor charged with a string of sexual offences has appeared in court.

Dr Lam Hoe Yeoh, who worked at St Anthony’s Hospital in Cheam, appeared in Croydon Crown Court this morning charged with 29 counts of voyeurism, two counts of making indecent images of a child, two counts of possession of extreme pornography, and one count of voyeurism.

The 61-year-old’s alleged offences cover 70 unknown victims, and are said to have been committed in his place of work.

Dr Yeoh, one of the country’s leading authorities on hearing conditions, appeared merely to confirm his name and is expected to offer a plea at Croydon Crown Court on September 16.

He was also employed by the Epsom and St Helier hospital trust, who released a statement following his August 5 court appearance.

It read: "The care and safety of our patients and staff is always our utmost priority and as such, Dr Yeoh was immediately suspended from work at our hospitals at the beginning of the police investigation.

"Based on the charges we have heard, his suspension will continue until further notice and his employment with our organisation is now being seriously considered.

"As criminal proceedings are ongoing, we are unable to say more at this time."
