Rehearsals in full swing for Oliver! at the Leatherhead Theatre
5:00am Sunday 11th November 2012 in Freetime
Actors dance and sing during rehearsals for Oliver! at the Leatherhead Theatre
The musical Oliver! is being staged to celebrate Charles Dickens' 200th birthday this year.
Leatherhead Operatic Society are putting on the beloved story of the boy who asked for more at the Leatherhead Theatre this month.
A cast of more than 70 and a 17-piece orchestra will bring alive famous numbers such as Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself and You’ve Got To Pick A Pocket Or Two.
Lionel Bart has adapted Dickens' much-loved tale of orphan Oliver whose journey takes him from a miserable workhouse to London where he meets a gang of young pickpockets.
The origins of the operatic society can itself be traced back the beginning of the last century when C. E. 'Granny' Grantham founded the Leatherhead Pierrots to entertain his friends and townspeople.
