Get your boogie on at Fairfield Halls, Croydon
12:00pm Thursday 28th February 2013 in Freetime
It is time to get your boogie on as a host of big names come to Fairfield Halls to perform Boogie Nights next month, writes Andy Bloss.
The Osmonds, Gareth Gates, Louisa Lytton, Andy Abraham, Chico and Shane Richie Junior all feature in Boogie Nights, the 70s musical.
Boogie Nights is considered the West End’s original jukebox musical, conceived by Jon Conway and Shane Richie in 1997.
Now the show returns as a remixed concert version of what organisers say is the ultimate party show featuring 70 old school classics.
The Osmonds are special guests on the show and will be performing a range of classic hits.
Gareth Gates plays heartthrob Dean and ex-Eastenders star Louisa Lytton will be playing Debs.
Shane Ritchie Junior is creating history as he takes over the role as Roddy, which was first played by his dad Shane Ritchie. It is the first time a role created by an actor has been inherited by his son.
X-Factor finalists Andy Abraham and Chico are also on the stellar cast list.
Speaking to the Croydon Guardian, Jimmy Osmond says he is looking forward to performing at the Fairfield Halls.
"It is great great show. It is like the Grease of the 70s. It has been a lot of fun and we have done a few shows already.
"So far the audiences are loving it because it is the music of their lives. It is cool to see all the generation coming to the show and getting up and boogieing and leaving their troubles at the door."
He adds: "I have everyone from grandmas to young kids rocking out to the music, it is great and it is a pleasure to be part of it.
"When you hear all those great songs from people such as Barry White it is fantastic. Some things never die.
"If you want to forget the stresses in your life then come and play with us. That is what it is all about."
