There will be a chance to rock out for free at the Scream Lounge this week, writes Andrew Bloss.

Four bands will be playing on Friday night at the popular music venue as fans can watch the alternative punk rock gig for free.

Trevor’s Head, Junkyard Choir, Jump the Gun and Rum Diaries are all performing on the night.

Trevor’s Head, based in Redhill, is unsigned and site Guns n Roses and Nirvana as two of their influences.

Junkyard Choir formed in 2006 and organisers say their blend of rock, blues, punk and waltz has proved popular with rock fans.

Jump the Gun are influenced by the 60s and aim to create a ‘British’ sound.

A spokesman from the band says:"Now is a time where chart music has become unsustainably dull and bland. The nation has lost its cultural identity.

"It is devoid of the style and characters and personalities that made music that actually meant something to the people.

"We want this back. We want elegance. We want charm. We want charisma. We are Jump The Gun."
