Bollywood's band set for 60s soul night in Kingston

A soul band dubbed "Bollywood’s answer to The Commitments" will be coming to Kingston for one night only next month. Botown will be playing classic 60s soul funk fused with Bollywood grooves featuring trumpets, saxophones, Asian percussion, vocalists, keyboards and rhythmic bass.

Ajay Srivastav, frontman and guitarist, founded Botown following his own solo success with a number one hit in India.

Born and raised in North London, Ajay has already worked with the likes of Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, Gregory Isaacs, Apache Indian and Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan.

He said: "Bollywood and soul are both music of the people. I've always been passionate about both, so combining the two is a musical dream come true. Fans of both music genres will be at home at the gig."

Band members include Croydon based trumpeter Paul Batik, West London based drummer Jon Harris, as well as vocalists Rekha Sawhney and Rajvi Rajani.
