A crew manager from New Addington is to participate in the world’s biggest firefighter event.
Lara Roberts will be taking part in the World Rescue Challenge, which started today and ends on Saturday.
The competition which attracts firefighters from across the world will see crew members undertake adrenaline packed challenges and daring James Bond style rescues.
Challenges include competitions to see who can rescue people from crashed cars in the quickest and safest manner.
The two-day event is being held at Excel London where teams from across the globe will compete to see which country has the world’s top rescuers, while providing the opportunity for firefighters to practice their rescue and first aid skills.
Crew Manager Roberts said: “I’d encourage everyone to come along to the World Rescue Challenge, it’s a free event and will be a unique chance for people to see firefighters from all over the world under one roof performing in a range of challenges and demonstrations.
"I’d love local people to come along and cheer me on, having the support behind us can be the difference between winning and losing a challenge."
