This summer has a lot to live up to, compared to last year's celebrations, but there are plans afoot.

First up is the Manor Park Community Fayre on 12 May which begins at 2.30pm where revellers can enjoy everything from maypole dancing to puppet shows while tucking into a real Cornish cream tea.

The Cheam Charter Fair returns for the 754th time on 18 May, which is the culmination Cheam Charter Week, and falls on the same day as a fun day being organised in Collingwood Rec.

A procession from the Lych Gate of St Dunstan’s Church at 9am will start festivities on the day of the Charter fair before activities in Cheam village.

Councillor Ruth Dombey, leader of Sutton Council said: "There are literally hundreds of events going on over the coming months. I urge everyone to come along and really take part and take pride in our borough."

The Sutton Life Centre spring party is on 30 May and runs from 11am-4pm, offering activities, stalls and fun for all the family including climbing, boxing, football, craft, drama and street dance.

Communities across the borough will come together on 2 June for the Big Lunch when people can enjoy a meal and a chat with their neighbours.

Anyone who would like to organise a Big Lunch event can get useful tips on http://www.thebiglunch.com/.

If you are running an event and you want to invite people to come email details of your event to debbie.bacon@sutton.gov.uk, to be included in the programme and on the website.
