It may be one of the more controversial moves in Croydon’s cinematic history but, for good or ill, the David Lean cinema is now at Fairfield Halls.

The new caretakers of the renowned picture house said it will still be offering specially selected seasons of the very best of British and world cinema as well as classic re-releases and recent favourites.

The cinema, was moved from its home in Croydon Clocktower and is now situated within the Fairfield Halls, south east London and Surrey’s premier theatre, arts and conference venue.

For those who want to get involved or have qualms about the new look cinema there will be a feedback forum on September 16 at 6.30pm.

This is followed by a free screening at 7pm of the classic film ‘The Third Man’ on the big screen. The film and reception are free but anyone you need to reserve your seats. Details for this special evening, and all the forthcoming seasons, will be featured at a new cinema website at www.fairfield.co.uk or www.davidleancinema.com Highlights include a Kurosawa Season, a Horror of London Season, a matinee Movie on Mondays, and a World Cinema Season.
