Battersea Spanish gears up for yet another exciting film night, writes Kazim Ukka.

The Spanish school and cultural centre launched its monthly film nights four months ago and has seen them grow in popularity.

Battersea Spanish screens some of the leading pictures in Spanish cinema, featuring their most acclaimed stars such as Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz.

The events are designed to promote the language and culture of Spain, whilst also allowing locals to experience a memorable night out.

The film is initially introduced, after which the first half displayed.

Prior to the showing of the second half, a short quiz is taken by the guests, all of whom have the opportunity of winning a prize donated by associates such as Latin deli and restaurants.

The founder and director of Battersea Spanish, Sara Caba says: "We started only in May, which means we have had only four screenings, but it has been a great success from day one. We have had an average of 50 people from the area coming by and enjoying what is a very relaxed, festive and cultural event. It proves that people in the area are passionate about Spanish and that they love to hang out together."

The coming film night will show Open Your Eyes (Abre los ojos), while the dinner will be provided Boqueria Spanish restaurant.
