Twickenham's very own Jane Horrocks gives a stellar performance as matriarch Ella Khan in East is East at Richmond Theatre.

Acting alongside Ayub Khan Din (George Khan), the pair ooze the same chemistry which saw them so celebrated in the show's West End run.

Khan Din, who plays his overbearing father George 'Ghengis' Khan, wrote the screenplay in 1999 with many issues still just as relevant today.

As the Khan family faces struggles with two cultures colliding, it is fascinating to see how the children in the family divide.

Ashley Kumar is convincing as Tariq, who feels totally disconnected with the Pakistani way of life his father is enforcing on him and his siblings.

Sally Bankes (Auntie Annie) and Taj Atwal (Meenah) also give strong and, in places hilarious, performances in a family where female's views are somewhat downtrodden.

If you were a fan of the film, you will definitely enjoy the stage production - a five-star performance from a five-star cast.
