Music legends The Drifters are celebrating their 55th anniversary and the release of their first album in 30 years with a special Christmas Show.

This festive treat celebrates the new offering, Five Decades and Moore, and will feature a special guest performance by mezzo-soprano Kellie Marie Schreiber and children from Croydon’s Stagecoach Theatre School will join them on stage for an extra special rendition of Mary’s Boy Child.

The group have had their troubles since their creation, having undergone numerous changes with more than 55 different singers having been part of the line up, including icons such as Clyde McPhatter, Ben E King, Charlie Thomas, Rudy Lewis and Johnny Moore.

The current line-up of Steve V King, Maurice Cannon, Michael Williams and Damion Charles is the only legitimate one in the world though and on top of their new material will be performing classics such as Saturday Night at the Movies, Under The Boardwalk, Come On Over To My Place and Kissing In The Back Row of the Movies.

With a huge back catalogue of over 50 hits selling in excess of 214m singles and 114m albums worldwide, the Drifters are one of the biggest selling bands of all time.
