A pantomime cow, an air-guitar and some giant nuts descended on Clapham Common for Ben and Jerry’s Summer Sundae this weekend.

Back for its fifth year, the Summer Sundae festival combined lashings of ice cream with social activism and some marvellous moo-sic.

On Sunday it was nice weather for ducks, and geese, with the livestock from Vauxhall City farm enjoying the drizzle on their feathers.

Among the attractions were polish geese with extravagant head feathers.

Their flair for fashion was matched in the crowd, with face painting proving a hit among young and old.

The appetite for ice cream was relentless, despite the nippy conditions.

Ben and Jerry’s were showcasing their latest flavour, Macademia Chocolate, which proved a hit with the audience.

Indeed the queues for ice creams remained lengthy throughout the day, regardless of flavour.

Another favourite with the crowd was the newly installed carousel, introducing some Victorian fun into the proceedings.

On the main stage, Camera Obscura added sweet melodies to the mix with hits French Navy and Let’s Get out Of This Country proving popular.

The Futurheads added their usual post punk sound to the event, combined with plenty of energy and verve.

But the stars of the show were the Human League, who brought back the 80s in style.

In keeping with their commitment to being climate neutral festival, this year Ben and Jerry’s supported a biomass programme in Karnataka in India.

The project, run by My Climate, prevents the uncontrollable burning of agricultural waste turning it into heat and energy instead.
