Overcoming the setback of having their record label go into administration, Reading rock band Exit Ten are back on the touring trail with a new album demonstrating a new sound.

Embarking on their second UK tour of album Give Me Infinity, released in October 2011, the five-some will be at Croydon’s Scream Lounge on January 25.

Formed eight years ago around the three Steele brothers, twins Stuart and James and elder brother Chris the group released its first album Remember the Day 2008 and seemed prepared to take the British rock scene by storm.

Drummer Chris, 27, says: “It was all going very well, we’d had some positive reviews from the press and were getting quite a lot of attention when Pinnacle, who owned the record label we were under, went into administration. Our album wasn’t being produced but we didn’t own the rights so couldn’t put it out ourselves.

Rather than sit and wait for the situation to change, the band, which also comprises guitarist Joe Ward, a childhood friend of the Steeles, and singer Ryan Redman, began working on Give Me Infinity, and in the process moving towards a more melodious style.

Chris says: “We were never a metal band but the new album has definitely moved to being a bit more accessible, more melodic. It wasn’t completely conscious but a lot has happened since the first album.”

An example of this is the newly released single Suggest a Path, which can be seen on Youtube and is available on iTunes.

Beginning the tour in St Albans on January 19, Exit Ten will be crisscrossing the UK for a month visiting some of their favourite venues, before preparing to head to Europe.

Chris says: “We played the Scream Lounge last year. Before that we didn’t know much of Croydon but it was a great venue. We’ve already toured the album so this was a chance to revisit some of our favourite places.”

Exit Ten will be at The Scream Lounge, South End, Croydon from 7.30pm on January 25, tickets cost £6, visit www.ticketsource.co.uk
