The power and excitement of a swing band in full flight is coming to town.

Five Star Swing will be bringing their new show The Big Band to the Epsom Playhouse.

Featuring vocalist and saxophonist Simone, from the latter days of the Ivy Benson band, and Mike Innes, trombonist to Tony Bennett and Shirley Bassey, the show promises the famous big band era of songs from Glenn Miller to Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Jazz and Blues.

Bandleader Chris Smith, says: "It’s great that there’s a real resurgence in this style of music across all age groups, giving a wonderful atmosphere to our concerts.

"My father played trombone with Frank Sinatra himself and the Ted Heath Orchestra, so I’m proud to be part of this ongoing feel-good music".

Five Star Swing has also performed at Dame Vera Lynn’s Charity Balls and Blackpool Tower Ballroom and Mr Smith has composed and arranged music for the BBC Radio Big Band and Herb Miller Big Band.
