World music is coming to Richmond Riverside next Saturday as the On the Edge Festival returns with a programme of Brazilian beats, Bhangra dancing and gypsy punk.

The festival, now in its fifteenth year, is organised by Richmond Council and this year’s event will feature unplugged sessions in Tide Tables Café for the first time.

Councillor Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council’s cabinet member for community development, is looking forward to dancing to the music down by the riverside.

She says: “On the Edge will bring the best of world music and dance to Richmond.

“It always creates a carnival atmosphere on the riverside, which is a beautiful location, and if previous years are anything to go by, there is something for people of all ages.”

On the Edge is free, and runs from noon-8pm on Richmond riverside, just north of Richmond Bridge. Here’s who will be providing the soundtrack to the day...

Tribo, 1pm

Tribo will be bringing authentic Brazilian music to Richmond all the way from their home state of Bahia.

Shristi Yuva Culture, 2.30pm

Saxophones also add a jazzy sensibilty to this musical mix.

Punjab Dancers, 5.30pm

Klezma Villanova, 7-8pm
