Harry Potter fans get their first look at the grown-up wizard’s family as wife Ginny and son Albus are finally cast for JK Rowling’s upcoming Cursed Child play.

Newcomer Sam Clemmett, who played murderer Lewis Daynes in BBC Three’s acclaimed Murder Games: The Life And Death of Breck Bednar, will take on the role of Albus Severus, Harry’s middle child.

Poppy Miller will play his mother Ginny alongside previously announced Jamie Parker as the grown-up version of The Boy Who Lived.

Potter fans who have wondered what Harry and Ginny’s offspring might look like need imagine no more.

The first character portraits show Jamie sporting Harry’s messy hair and lightning-shaped scar as he poses in a sharp suit that hints at his career in the Ministry of Magic. He was played in the film series by Daniel Radcliffe.

The Weasley’s trademark red locks have not been diluted by age or a change of surname for Poppy’s Ginny, who can be seen in a light blue jumper, dark skirt, tights and sensible heels.

Albus wears dark Hogwarts school robes which give no hint at which House he ends up in, as fans will remember his fear in the final chapter of book The Deathly Hallows that the Sorting Hat will place him in Slytherin.

Set 19 years after the books ended, Harry is now an “overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic”, juggling his career with three children.

The plot for the play reads: “While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.
