Gary Lineker has slammed rumours that he and ex-wife Danielle Bux are getting back together as “nonsense”.

The 55-year-old football pundit, who divorced actress Danielle, 37, in January, addressed speculation they were set to reunite after being pictured out together in Los Angeles in June, and then in Notting Hill weeks later.

Gary wrote on Twitter: “More fabricated nonsense in press. @DanielleBux and I remain close friends. Our kids do too, but we’re not back together. We’re grown-ups.”

A source close to Danielle told Press Association: “Nothing has changed, they are friends but Gary has been a step-dad to (Danielle’s daughter) Ella since she was four and a huge part of her life. As are his boys.

“They weren’t on holiday in Los Angeles; Ella is at school there with Danielle.”

The former England footballer and the actress were married from 2009 until their split in January 2016.

Gary shares four sons – George, Harry, Tobias and Angus – with his ex-wife Michelle Cockayne, from whom he split in 2006 after a 20-year marriage.

Danielle is a mother to teenage daughter Ella from her previous relationship with former footballer Adam Willis.

The Welsh star currently lives in Los Angeles with her daughter, while Match Of The Day host Gary is based in London.

Following their amicable split, Gary said in an interview with The Daily Telegraph that he and Danielle still get on “brilliantly”.
