Lily Allen has admitted she has had to tone down parts of her stage shows because her husband thought they were inappropriate for their kids to see.

The Air Balloon singer, who is married to Sam Cooper and is mum to daughters Ethel, two, and Marnie, 15 months, told The Sun she had made some changes.

Lily said Sam had been particularly concerned about how on a previous tour she mimicked a sex act with her microphone while singing Not Fair.

She revealed: "Recently I have been rehearsing for this new tour and Sam said, 'You're not doing that thing again are you?' I said not if he didn't want me to. And he said no as he didn't think it's good for the kids."

But Lily said she couldn't be tamed over every part of her music, including song L8 CMMR, reportedly about her sex life with Sam.

She explained: "He was embarrassed. But I think people know me for being candid about everything.

"So I can't just suddenly get married and not talk about those things any more, because I think my fans would be like, 'Er, why doesn't she talk about sex stuff?'

"I said sorry [to Sam] but he knew what he was getting into when he got with me."

She also recently revealed that her spat with rapper Azealia Banks, which started when Azealia implied Lily's children were ugly, had improved her songwriting.

Lily said: "I tried to write through my pregnancy with my youngest, but the hormones were really weird and it was just really forced and sounded terrible.

"Then it wasn't until I stopped breastfeeding six months on Azealia tweeted me on Twitter, that I was like, 'Yes, you know who I am.' I found my voice again, then I just bashed it all out. It was like two years of writing before I found it."
