If you were wondering who will sing the next James Bond theme tune, you can rule out Paloma Faith.

The Brit Award-winning star said she had already “found out” that she will not follow in Adele’s footsteps and now thinks she will “never” get the prestigious gig.

There have been a number of big names suggested as being in with a chance of recording the track for the forthcoming 24th 007 film Spectre, including Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran.

Paloma, who previously tweeted that she was “born” to sing the theme and pleaded with 007 not to pick someone else, said she was not embarrassed about asking so publicly.

Speaking about it on The Jonathan Ross Show, she said: “I’ve taken so much inspiration from those singers.

“It’s really weird in our celeb culture that it’s like everyone’s got to pretend that everything’s ‘so cool’.

“People are shocked at my (Brits) speech that I was actually pleased because everyone’s sort of got to pretend that it’s like ‘Oh great thanks’.

“No, I’ve worked for ages to get that, thank you!

“It’s all this sort of pretending to be cool.

“I want everyone to know I’m not cool and I’m happy not to be cool and I’m happy not to pretend to be cool.”

She added: “I also know that I’m not going to sing the Bond (theme song) because I’ve found out that I’m not going to be singing it … I think now because of the whole cool factor thing I’m never going to get it and if you ask for something in this business you don’t get it.”

There have been a number of famous voices behind Bond themes, including Adele who recorded Skyfall and Dame Shirley Bassey who recorded Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever.

Sam Mendes, who will be returning to direct Spectre, is said to have already chosen the act to follow Adele’s Oscar-winning tune but is remaining tight-lipped about their identity.

In December, Ed Sheeran tipped Sam Smith as the ideal candidate.

“I think Sam Smith would be perfect suited up with his strong voice. I’m backing Sam,” he said.

“Anyone from him to Paloma Faith who does the retro thing really well should do it.”
