Julie Walters: I'm too lazy to work

Julie Walters has claimed she is lazy, and turns down acting jobs because she just wants to stay at home and do the gardening.

The 62-year-old Harry Potter star - currently starring on stage at the National Theatre in The Last Of The Haussmans - told the Daily Mirror she has been offered lots of TV and film work, but she'd rather go on holiday.

Julie said: "I like being at home, I am a lazy old b****r.

"The thought of going on to another job at this precise point is awful. When I was young, it was the next job, what's next? I am not like that now, I am more interested in my tomatoes half the time ... and my raised beds, which are like a jungle now.

"I have been offered a couple of little things which I just can't do, I want to go on holiday. I will think about something next year maybe."

She even admitted she sometimes turns down roles because she'd rather sit back and enjoy watching someone else do them.

Julie confessed: "There is a trickle of stuff that comes in over the year and a lot of it I don't want to do. Not necessarily because it is terrible, but because I have been there before or it's stuff I would like to watch but not want to do."

The Mamma Mia! star revealed appearing on stage is exhausting as she can't sleep.

She said: "I will be completely knackered after this. It is very tiring, even when you are settled in. The first night is like a road accident in terms of shock. And you are appearing in front of people so there's a sense you are being judged.

"I stayed in bed until midday today, you can't get to bed early after the show because of the adrenaline."
