A lavender farm in Banstead is holding its first ever lavender festival, including wreath making and a hog roast.

The 25-acre Mayfield Lavender, in Croydon Lane, will host children’s entertainment, sensory poetry workshops and relaxing massages in the field on the first weekend in July.

People can tuck into food from the barbecue, take part in a pilates session or pose for a photograph with glorious lavender as the backdrop.

And between 10am to 11.30am on Saturday there will be a Mini-Bioblitz, which is a national campaign to record as many species as possible. It involves hunting for bugs, beetles and butterflies.

Entry is free but there is a charge for some activities including massages. The wreath making workshop, between 10.30am to noon, costs £30 per person.
