Marc Webb has revealed he thinks that Rihanna playing the Black Cat would be "a great idea".

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director said he would approach Marvel bosses with the idea that the Diamonds singer could portray the comic-book superhero.

"Rihanna to be the Black Cat? That's a great idea. We will put it under advicement," he said.

But he remained coy about a potential Black Cat spin-off film, saying: "I don't want to give everything away. You gotta keep some secrets, you've got to play it close to the vest so we'll see."

Producer Matt Tolmach said giving the character her own film would be a coup: " That would be interesting. I'd love to see that, are you kidding? She's such a great character and I would love that. Maybe someday."

Both Marc and Matt are on the "dream team" to work on the Sinister Six and Venom spin-off sequels, which will focus on the super-group of villains drawn from Spider-Man's enemies.

Marc said: "They (film bosses) are in talks with Drew Goddard to put that together. What we discovered more in starting to do the second movie is there are so many characters in the Spider-Man universe that were complex and interesting to warrant their own movies, and the universe is expanding in a way that will accommodate that. It's a lot of amazing things to come, that the fans will really enjoy."

Matt added: "It's time. If you look at what's been happening in the Marvel universe, that's what audiences want. We've been talking about it for a long time and said, 'Let's do this'. T he moment was right. We're working on scripts right now."

Matt also revealed London could feature in one of the upcoming films.

"We have Sinister Six, Venom and a Spider-Man movie in the works. I can pretty much promise you one of them is coming (to London)," he teased.
