Bear Grylls will continue his bid to conquer the US by taking survival show The Island across the Atlantic.
Channel 4 show The Island With Bear Grylls, which launched in the UK last year, will be adapted for a US audience by broadcaster NBC.
The network confirmed that it would run for six episodes and include 14 men abandoned on an island to find a way of surviving, while filming themselves without the help of a camera crew.
Bear said: “This experiment reveals, in a shocking way, modern man, when pushed, can still summon all the resolve, ingenuity and strength that traditionally made a man’s man – or whether our society’s cushioning has meant we have lost those hard-earned skills of our ancestors.
“This is the raw, unfiltered and uncensored story of 14 men, as told exclusively by them.”
Islanders for the US series will include a surgeon, an attorney, a firefighter and a stay-at-home dad.
Bear has had previous success in the US with his series Running Wild With Bear Grylls, which has seen him take stars including Zac Efron, Channing Tatum and Ben Stiller adventuring.
The Island With Bear Grylls is due to air a new UK series which will follow a group of men again, but will also show an all-female island crew left to hone their survival skills.
