Hugh Jackman has hinted he will be hanging up his Wolverine claws in the near future.

The Australian star confirmed he will play the X-Men character for the final time in a photograph, which featured his signature claws.

A source told The Wrap that the post refers to an upcoming sequel to 2013′s The Wolverine, rather than the upcoming Marvel movie, X-Men: Apocalypse.

Hugh, 46, has played Wolverine in all five X-Men films since X-Men in 2000, and featured in two spin-off films – X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine.

He said in 2014 that he still gets joy from portraying the character on the big screen: “I’ve got to admit, when I took on the role, I was 30. But I think I needed to be 40 before I really got it.”
