It was meant to be Joan Jett’s night when she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the weekend – but it all became about Miley Cyrus and her armpit hair instead.

The 22-year-old singer paid tribute to the rock legend at the 30th annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, by singing Crimson And Clover with her on stage and recounting her fondest memories of the 56-year-old legend in a heartfelt speech.

But, in true Miley form, she decided to take her support one step further by exposing her breasts to reveal heart-shaped pink pasties emblazoned with a letter J on each side. These eye-popping accessories were seen under one of her three outfit changes of the night – a tight-fitting black leather dress, fishnet stockings and a leather jacket in homage to the punk rock style of Joan’s band Joan Jett And The Blackhearts.

She posted a snap on Instagram of the daring outfit with the caption “Joan’s Cheerleader”, but it was her noticeably unshaven armpits that got social media talking.

Some people were grossed out by Miley’s au naturel style, which echoed Julia Roberts’ infamous look at the Notting Hill premiere in 1999.

But many couldn’t see the big deal about Miley choosing to let her armpit hair roam free.

The event was also attended by Sir Paul McCartney, who inducted Ringo Starr into the Hall, Patti Smith and John Mayer, who gave Miley’s duet a standing ovation.

Miley’s no stranger to a bit of controversy and she clearly enjoyed herself throughout the night, posting several sweet pictures of her cosying up to several musical legends.
