The First Dates restaurant has seen its fair share of cocky lotharios and young beauties all on the hunt for the right ones for them, but what we don’t come across often is an elder gentleman – and an adorable one at that.

Looking for love this week was 82-year-old former fruit and veg worker Billy who had found himself feeling lonely after the death of his wife three years earlier.

“I still dream about romance, and I wake up cuddling a pillow,” he admitted before his date, while hugging a photo album full of old photos, and we instantly fell in love.

We watched with our fingers and toes crossed, hoping the stars had aligned and Billy’s dream woman would soon step through the door…

Enter 72-year-old Sandra, with the brightest of blonde hair and an electric blue dress, hoping to make an unforgettable entrance.

“The man of my dreams would be 40 and at least 5’9,” she admitted in the confessional.

“But at the end of the day as long as he doesn’t mind wining and dining me, a 90-year-old wouldn’t be a problem.”

We all sat, lips twitching, praying the pair would hit it off, but judging by Sandra’s criteria, we weren’t sure Billy had much of a shot… little did we know.

With the small talk out of the way, the pair began swapping their moving stories of the past, and our hearts grew heavy when Sandra admitted she too felt lonely having separated from her husband 22 years earlier.

Talk soon turned to the pair’s likes and hobbies and not long after Sandra let slip she liked a bit of a boogie, she was up on her feet grooving across the restaurant floor – and we all loved her for it.

As if we couldn’t love the adorable Billy any more, he quickly jumped up to join his date on the dancefloor, and together the pair glided through the restaurant with a not a care in the world given to the gawping diners.

Back in the confessional after their date, we waited with bated breath to see if another date was on the cards for the couple.

“I think we will meet up again, because I think he’ll probably enjoy my madness,” Sandra said.

“I think he’s nearly as silly as me, I think he’s probably got his wild moments as well. We could have a few laughs,”

“That would be lovely,” Billy smiled.
