A brand new children’s show is based on a best-selling book about the Mona Lisa writes Andy Bloss.

The new show, called Katie and the Mona Lisa, is based on the best-selling picture book by artist James Mayhew and adapted for the stage by Mike Redwood.

Audience members can also take part in workshops with the author as an additional activity to the show.

The story revolves around Katie and her Grandma. They visit an art gallery and Katie can’t resist gazing at the Mona Lisa by Leonardo de Vinci.

She wonders why the Mona Lisa is smiling and to her amazement the painting speaks to her and invites Katie to join her.

Katie soon discovers that the Mona Lisa is lonely and her smile is fading. They set off into the gallery for an adventure through a series of famous paintings.

They try and search for someone who can restore the Mona Lisa’s smile.

A spokesman for the show says: "This thrilling journey through art is a visual tour de force as Katie and her new friend explore the magical worlds beyond the picture frame.

"With beautifully painted sets, actors, puppets and music this promises to be a fun-filled show for all the family."
