Sutton is alive with the Sound of Music.

The Lyric Players will perform the classic musical with all its unforgettable songs Do-Re-Mi, My Favourite Things and Climb Every Mountain.

Based on the book - The Story of the Trapp Family Singers - Maria an Austrian nun proves too high-spirited for abbey life.

The problem of Maria solved by sending her to be the governess for Captain von Trapp’s seven children - where her unorthodox methods quickly win over the children but initially clash with the captain’s military household regime.

As Maria sings her way into the lives of the children the captain rediscovers his own forgotten love for music and the pair fall for each other.

When a happy ending looks near the Nazi annexation of Austria throws their lives into turmoil and the family have to decide whether to remain in Austria or to flee.

The Sound of Music has become one of the most popular movie musicals of all times and was the final musical written by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

With classic songs such as Edelweiss, Sixteen Going On Seventeen and So Long, Farewell this promises to be a show for the whole family with musical theatre at its best.
