An expectation of glitz and glamour of ballroom dancing was certainly lived up to on Friday night as Anton and Erin, best known from BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing, came to the Fairfield Halls.

With so many costume changes you really do have to feel sorry for the person in charge of getting everything ready for the next performance.

With a total of four women and four men gracing the stage with their light-footed skills they all sported unique outfits, varying in colour and quantity of rhinestones - they must have had a truck for the outfits alone.

Before the show came to Croydon, Erin Boag said her body is different since having her baby boy nearly a year ago but looking at her she still performed spectacularly and with flexibility that even the most athletic would struggle with.

Sparkling pearly whites were also a constant feature as the performers grinned their way around the stage, not stopping for a moment, encouraging the raspy, soothing and elegant voiced Lance Ellington to join in on showing off his smile.

It was not just the swing and big ballad musician that provided music to accompany the dancing. The 25 piece London Concert Orchestra also joined them on stage to keep the show as realistic to Strictly Come Dancing as possible. Even the lead pair found themselves picking up a microphone and showing their vocal talents as they aimed to bring a little comedy to their show.

During the interval the audience, which packed out the Concert Hall, was encouraged to submit questions on cards into a little box in the foyer to have them answered during the second half of the show. This gave Du Beke the chance to enter into the comedy world he seems to revel in by telling jokes throughout = though he did stop Erin from getting a word in edgeways.

One person dared to ask the cheeky question to Anton of ‘can I have a kiss?’ and after he decided that the blonde haired woman was attractive enough he kindly agreed. A good night for that lady and an excellent night for all It gets a 4 out of 5 from me but now I badly want to have a pastel blue ball gown with many layers and far too many sparkles.

Anton and Erin is touring the UK until March 29. Visit http://www.antondubeke.tv/ for details
