Star names and specially-commissioned projects are both present in abundance in Sutton Theatres’ first season announcement under new management.
Since June, The Secombe in Sutton and The Cryer in Carshalton have been under the joint directorship of Beri Juraic and Micha Colombo and they’ve added a third, smaller space – the new Back Door @ The Secombe.
Following the motto ‘inspiration on your doorstep’, their first season in charge includes big name comedians such as Katherine Ryan, Tim Vine and Rich Hall and a specially-commissioned short format opera called The Lost Field of Summer with a libretto from Alasdair Middleton, whose work has graces the stage at the Young Vic.
Marhaba Maghreb festival will feature some of north Africa’s most exciting dancers and theatre makers, while an in-house production of Pinocchio will star EastEnders’ star Melissa Suffield.
