We have seen Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Redford take lead roles in iconic big screen adaptations of The Great Gatsby, and F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel is heading for the stage in Croydon.

Commissioned to celebrate 90 since the book’s publication, this show promises to immerse you in the Jazz Age decadence of the era with a new adaptation by Stephen Sharky which combines the timeless language of Fitzgerald’s Great American Novel with live music and character-driven theatre.

Director Eliot Giuralorocca said: “Stephen Sharkey has shaped and distilled Fitzgerald's novel into a muscular and narrative-driven portrait of the Jazz Age, full of cool, sexy, stiletto-sharp dialogue as cool as ice in a cocktail.

“Throw into the mix our wonderful design team along with an ensemble of seven fabulously talented actors, who all sing, dance and play instruments, and I hope we have all the ingredients needed to give the audience a wonderful party and bring Fitzgerald's Great American masterpiece roaring into life.”

The Great Gatsby is at Fairfield Halls on March 11 and 12. Tickets cost £21.50, £18.50 concessions or £11.50 schools. Go to Fairfield.co.uk or call 020 8688 9291.
