Kingston anti-arms campaigners to put on play

A campaign group calling for the cessation of the sale of arms to foreign dictators is putting on a play this weekend to encourage people to sign their petition.
Members of Twickenham, Richmond and Kingston Network Against the Arms Trade (Traknat) will be at the corner of King Street and Water Lane in Twickenham on Saturday, inviting passersby to sign a petition calling on Twickenham MP Vince Cable to stop selling arms to repressive regimes.
The Government and Dr Cable have come under fire for allegedly selling arms to countries in the Middle East and north Africa, with a report in the Guardian stating the Bahrain government had killed and injured protesters using British weapons.
Traknat is made up of concerned residents from Twickenham, Richmond and Kingston.
Campaigners will dress as three characters – Dr Cable, an arms dealer and a dictator, acting out a scenario in which the MP asked the arms dealer for assurances that British weapons would not be used against innocent civilians before handing them over to the dictator, who intends to do just that.
