Personal Overview - Inherited this safe Labour seat from Neil Gerrard at the 2010 General Election. She is a party insider having worked as a researcher and speech writer with Douglas Alexander MP, Charles Clarke MP and Ross Cranston MP. She is also likely to have a good knowledge of her local area having Local Government experience in Walthamstow and is a former Council Mayor as well as having been active within the Walthamstow Constituency Labour Party. Is likely to be a good prospect for future advancement within the party. She is also likely to be an enthusiastic and engaging member unafraid of expressing her views with a family background in community and political activism (both her parents have been active within the Labour Movement). She also has experience raising funds for charity, as a former Chair of the Mayor of Barnet's Charity Appeal 2005/06 raising money for the mental health charity MIND.
