Five dogs have been seized by police after a pensioner was was found dead.

Gloria Knowles, 71, was found in the garden of her daughter’s home in Morden, near Sutton Common Recreation Grounds last night.

It is believed she was attacked by five dogs, including two French mastiffs, after she had gone into the house to feed them.

The dogs are believed to be owned by her daughter.

Police and ambulance arrived at the scene just before 6.30pm last night but Mrs Knowles was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “We were called at about 6.25 pm last night to reports of a 71-year-old woman found deceased at a residential address on Rutland Drive, Morden.

“The woman had sustained a number of injuries.

“An investigation is underway into establishing the cause of death.

“Next of kin have been informed.”

Mrs Knowles is believed to be the mother of Beverley who owns the Harringtons pie and mash shop in Selkirk Road, Tooting.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place at St Georges Hospital Mortuary on Thursday November 1.

Police confirmed that no arrests have been made and that enquiries are ongoing.

didnt know gloria personally only from the pie and mash shop, such a sad sad time for the family
