Wallington residents fear new plant will bring lorries close to schools

A residents association have voiced their concerns about an increase in lorry traffic caused by the proposed Beddington incinerator.
Flightpath, the residents association for Mollison Drive, Wallington, have met with councillors to discuss the plans.
Pat Bridgeman, chairwoman of the association, said: "Our concern is that three boroughs would be delivering waste to the facility and we do not want them using Roundshaw and Plough Lane as a shortcut.
"We would like some assurance that a transport plan is also submitted avoiding residential areas especially as we have three primary schools in our locality. With over 600 residents under Flightpath’s remit and over 1500 on Roundshaw there is a lot of local objection."
Sutton Council is currently considering Viridor's application for the energy from waste facility.
