Local MP Paul Burstow has given his backing to plans aimed at giving parents more flexibility in how they take parental leave.
Mr Burstow's party, the Liberal Democrats, have announced plans to allow new mums and dads to share parental leave.
Mr Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, said: "This is about fairness in the workplace, and reducing that difficult choice between a family and a career. It will signal one of the greatest advances for equality in recent years as employers get used to more men taking time off after their child is born, and more women returning to work."
