A furry Worcester Park resident has died at the grand old age of 18.

The famous black cat was a regular feature in Central Road, and liked to sit under the heaters in Superdrug and sleep for hours in the National Westminster Bank or Santander.

He was often seen perching on the tills in Pets Place and when the weather was good he would sit on the rabbit hutches outside.

Brendan Austin the owner of Pets Place said:  "His eyesight started to fail about a year ago and recently he retired from public life to live with a member of staff.

"He passed away having woken, did his morning rounds and returned to his bed and peacefully slipped away.

"Thank you to everyone who has been into the shop and mentioned his passing - so many stories that could be told."

Oscar passed away on November 13.
