Delayed baubles put on Sutton High Street's Christmas after wind-related delay
2:00pm Saturday 1st December 2012 in News By Mike Pyle
Sutton's Christmas tree finally has its baubles after decorating it was delayed due to high winds last weekend.
Shoppers said the tree in the High Street was embarrassing because it only had a string of white lights on it for most of this week. Some thought the baubles might have been shelved in council cutbacks but they were proved wrong when they went up on Wednesday.
The lights were turned on last week but other decorations were conspicuous by their absence. Sutton Council said the lack of decorations was because it was too dangerous to use a cherry-picker to put them up in the high winds.
