EastEnders star and Thames Ditton resident Charlie Brooks has been crowned queen of the jungle.

The actress beat former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts to the top spot after enduring 22 days in the Australian outback as part of the ITV reality show I’m A Celebrity Get Me out of Here.

In her time in the jungle, Miss Brooks completed several bushtucker trials, including water canon based Celebrity Cyclone and the Final Feat eating challenge.

To win dinner on their final night in the jungle, the two finalists ate a range of jungle critters to win respective courses of a special last supper.

Viewers saw Miss Brooks get into teeth into a live witchetty grub, pig brain, turkey testicles and slurp down a drink of blended cockroaches, crickets and mealworms.

Both finalists successfully completed the challenge and won a starter, main course, dessert and drink of their choice for their final meal in the jungle.

Despite lots of retching, Miss Brooks and Miss Roberts’ efforts proved worthwhile when they were presented with nachos, prawns, fajitas, ice cream and apple crumble.

Although the bushtucker trials put celebrities to the test, Miss Brooks’ toughest challenge while in the jungle was being away from her daughter Kiki, 7.

Miss Brooks was left devastated after finding out she missed the chance to see her daughter in the door-to-door challenge last week.

On being awarded the jungle crown, the actress said: “I can’t believe it, I had no idea!”

The final four in this year’s show were Charlie Brooks, Ashley Roberts, boxer David Haye and darts champion Eric Bristow MBE.
