A personal trainer pushed his body to the limit by continuously flipping a 100 kilo tyre 500 times to help a disabled youngster.

James Forrest, 34, from Epsom, aimed to raise £500 for a buggy for four-year-old Harvey Beasant, who is severely disabled due to a brain injury.

Mr Forrest, a family friend of the Beasant family, also from Epsom, is the owner of the K Club, a gym in Kingswood.

He undertook the gruelling challenge on Saturday, December 1, and said it was the hardest physical challenge of his life.

But although he was "pretty nervous" beforehand, Mr Forrest completed the 500 flips of the 5ft tyre in just 50 minutes and raised £1,000 for Harvey and his family - enough for a new buggy and more.

He said: "Even though I’m confident physically, it was the unknown.  It was the hardest physical challenge I’ve ever done as it took me to a place I’ve never been before.

"The first 250 flips were painful because the end seems so far away and it’s an awkward object to carry.

"In the end, I was using my head and shoulders to grip and flip it."

Nicola Beasant, Harvey’s mum, said: "We don’t know what the future holds, but are just grateful that life is brighter than it was.

"Before Harvey fell ill, aged four-and-a-half months, long walks as a family were a big part of our lives.

"With the buggy he’s got for day-to-day life we are extremely limited as to where we can go."
