New pedestrian-friendly signs have been installed throughout Tooting town centre to make it easier for people to find their way around on foot.
The scheme is part of the Legible London way-finding initiative and Tooting is the first area in Wandsworth to benefit.
The signs feature easy-to-read maps with a distinctive ‘heads-up’ orientation and major local landmarks are shown as 3D drawings.
Designed specifically for pedestrians, the maps include five and 15 minute walking circles to help people plan short journeys on foot rather than taking public transport.
Wandsworth Council developed this scheme using part of the annual transport grant its receives from TfL.
