Voters are heading to the polls in a byelection to choose a new councillor in Stonecot ward.
Polling stations will be open for people to cast their votes until 10pm before the count happens at the Civic Offices in the town centre. A winner is expected to be declared at around 11.45pm.
The byelection was called last month after Liberal Democrat Dr Brendan Hudson stood down from his post to head up Sutton's Clinical Commissioning Group.
There are five candidates for people to choose from - Liberal Democrat Nick Emmerson, Conservative Graham Jarvis, Labour's Bonnie Craven, UKIP's Jeremy Wraith and the Green Party's Joan Hartfield.
Several of the candidates have identified the future of St Helier Hospital as a priority while campaigns have also mentioned the cost of commuting and the planned incinerator in Beddington.
Polling stations are based at:
- St Oswald’s Church, Brocks Drive, North Cheam, SM3 9UW
- North Cheam Baptist Church, Ridge Road, Sutton, SM3 9LY
- Sutton Life Centre, 24 Alcorn Road, Sutton, SM3 9PX
