The first year, Level 3 Games Development students at Carshalton College are taking part in an ‘I Am Creative’ project organised by The Ideas Foundation.

The Ideas Foundation is a not for profit organisation that want to encourage students who might not otherwise get the chance, to work with the advertising industry to gain experience of the sector and develop their skills. The Ideas Foundation have developed a project called ‘I Am Creative’ which enables schools & colleges to access real creative briefs from top brands. Students work on the brief they have been given and can then upload their work to the ‘I Am Creative’ gallery for the public to view and the brand managers to see too. The student work is judged by a panel taken from the brand that set the brief and adland. The winner receives £200 of vouchers from a high street store and a place on ‘The Ladder’, the progression group of the Ideas Foundation.

The first year, Level 3 Games Development students at Carshalton College are currently working on a brief set by BT. The Ideas Foundation have been in to the College with an advertising industry professional to work with the students on coming up with an idea to fit the BT brief. On visiting the College, they were very impressed with our students and will be coming back to the College in December to see the final pitches. All the pitches will then be uploaded onto the ‘I Am Creative’ website for the BT Marketing Director to view.

Rachel Kelly, Creative Industries Curriculum Manager at Carshalton College is working on this project with the year one students and says ‘This is a great way of enabling students to get access to the advertising industry and provides them with the opportunity to get involved in real briefs from top brands. The brief set by BT is challenging and the students seem to be getting to grips with it and developing some fantastic concepts.’ For more information, please contact: e: marketing@carshalton.ac.uk t: 020 8544 4501 Based on information supplied by .
