Primary schools across Elmbridge put their hockey skills to the test at Suburban Hockey as part of the Schools Games.

The tournament, held at Surbiton Hockey Club, Long Ditton, on November 22, saw teams from six schools compete.

Year 5 and 6 pupils from Bell Farm School, Cleves, Hurst Park School, Claygate Primary, St Charles Borromeo and Cranmere Primary, all received free hockey coaching during the autumn term from Suburban Hockey coaches.

Will Fulker, head coach at Suburban Hockey, said: “I was very impressed by how well the children applied all they had learned over the last few weeks. The standard of hockey was very high, and I think we may have seen some future stars.”

St Borromeo, Weybridge, won the tournament, taking all five of their matches and getting a gold medal in return.

In second place was Cleves and bronze went to Hurst Park School.

All the children who took part were given a certificate and a School Games bag, and the winning team also won Suburban Hockey T-shirts.

The winning will now take part in the Surrey School Games County final hosted by Woking Hockey Club in the spring term.
