Bus users have a chance to get a once-popular night service reinstated if they want it.

Transport for London (TfL) is running a consultation giving people the chance to press for the return of the axed N213 service used by revellers and late night workers to get between Sutton and Croydon.

More than 5,000 people signed a petition when the service was chopped but now TfL is giving people the chance to bring it back.

Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake said: "This consultation is another opportunity to call upon Boris Johnson to listen to the needs of local people and reinstate the night bus service. The lack of a night bus service is not only a hindrance to night workers, it also means that young people going for a night out in Croydon are required to compromise their safety by walking home if they cannot afford a taxi."

TFL is accepting comments and suggestions on how the 213 route can be changed or improved until January 25. People can submit comments by emailing STEngagement@tfl.gov.uk.

If 5,000 people have already signed a petition what more do TfL want from them? Restoration of the Sutton to Croydon night service would likely mean either putting the N213 back without it's N prefix or making the 154 a 24/7 service wouldn't it?

This service will be good for lots of different journey types. Another one is for people travelling back from central London during the early hours of the night when there are still trains to East Croydon, I believe, but not to many if any other stations in the vicinity.

Have you seen the crime figures for Croydon? Why would we want a quick link for them to Sutton on a Friday and Saturday night. I can think of another name to call the "revellers".. Lets hope they don't burn us down. Where is the petition to stop it.

would be good for the people who work in Croydon as the morning buses don't start till about half five- and if you had a late finishing job in Croydon- like a nurse say, you had to cab it home if you didn't have a car- and dear Oracle One- some of our 'revellers' will go to Croydon too

The Oracle can laugh out as loudly as they like, but the fact is the bus is in Bushy Road AND HAS THEREFORE ONLY JUST LEFT SUTTON BUS GARAGE - give the poor thing a chance to fill up (assuming it on duty anyway)!

PS If it is on duty, this must be a mid-summer photo for it to be light at night - perhaps the photo was taken at around 5am.
