By Benedict le Vay, Southfields

Would someone at Merton Council give a well-deserved pat on the back to staff at Wimbledon Park?

The meadow wildflower patches were an inspired idea which gave months of ever changing old favourites such as poppies and cornflowers for adults, children and butterflies to enjoy.

The new beach volleyball courts, or whatever the word is, have been an unexpected success.

The tennis courts are at last being resurfaced.

And to those moaning minnies who objected to the bare patches left by Olympic parking, I'd say: the patches have faded away now. Our memories of the Olympics never will.
