As cold weather draws in, many people take to Twitter to express their dismay, but not Surrey Police.

The police force took to Twitter earlier this week to put a spin on the usual boring cold weather warnings by putting theirs into a Vanilla Ice style rap.

Surrey Police posted the tweets on Tuesday morning urging drivers to be careful on freezing roads.

The tweets read: “Ice Ice Surrey. Alright stop, Collaborate and listen, Ice is back and these roads are glistening.

“Slowly, cuz the streets are freezin’

“Don't forget to clear off the windscreen

“If ice is a problem, yo, you can solve it, check out this link while my DJ revolves it”

The tweets were then followed with a link to their road safety page, which gives drivers some practice advice about driving in cold and icy conditions.

The page states that drivers should check the weather forecast and road conditions before they travel, ensure you have enough fuel and de-icer and always alert others when you leave and arrive your destination points.

The messages posted by Surrey Police were retweeted hundreds of times and, later in the day police force tweeted their thanks for the positive feedback about their rap and stated they had gained 600 new followers.
