A team of carers have completed their training to deliver specialised dementia care in Epsom and Mole Valley.

Funded by the Surrey Care Association, the team of eight, based at the Epsom office of at-home care provider Home Instead Senior Care, completed the new City and Guilds accredited training programme, Best Practice in Dementia Care.

Home Instead specialises in home care for the elderly, with 40 per cent of its clients suffering from Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.

The company recently won the award for best training and development at the 2012 Epsom and Ewell Business Excellence Awards.

Jill Tame, of Home Instead, said: "With our rapidly ageing population dementia is on the increase and is a growing concern for those living with the disease and for their families too.

"We were delighted when Surrey Care Association approached us to take part in this programme that would allow us to deliver specialised care.

"I am proud they all completed the course successfully."
