The chairman of Croydon University Hospital, Michael Parker will leave his post at the end of the year, NHS London have confirmed.
Mr Parker was appointed interim board chairman following the departure of Brian Phillpott in April.
A month later, Mr Parker was made permanent chairman for a term of four years, but he has quit the role after just nine months and will stand down on December 31.
NHS London have confirmed Mike Bell, who is currently Vice Chairman at NHS London Strategic Health Authority, has been appointed interim chairman with effect from January 2, 2013.
A spokesman said: "Mike Bell will be undertaking a review of governance at the trust in January and will also oversee the process for appointing a substantive Chief Executive for the hospital.
"Marie Gabriel, Chair at the East London NHS Foundation Trust, will be leading the review."
